3 Ways to Make Your Needs Known
Alright everyone, we are going in to our third week of this new year. How are you holding up? Well, I hope this year has been good to you so far. Now, that the holidays are over, January is time when we make resolutions. When we decide to get rid of the old and embrace the new. We decide to make a change for the better. We want to become a better version of ourselves. Those goals can range from attainable to not as attainable as we thought. One of the goals or resolutions I have heard from other people is that they want to make his or her needs known.
Sometimes we do not feel like our needs are being met. Could it be we are not taking the change to make our needs known? Or perhaps we feel like we do not have the voice to make our needs known. Maybe we are too scared. Maybe we think our needs are worthless and would not matter to anyone. Maybe we are just too busy to move forward in making our needs known. And then, it could be all of the above! Whatever is holding you back, let me tell you that you are not alone. Many people get stuck. Many people feel like they do not know where to start. I have provided three ways to help you move forward. Hopefully, these tips resonate with you and give you the momentum you need.
1. Know what you want.
The first thing that should be done when you have a desire, need, or want is to realize it. What is it exactly that you want? Is it to be able to express yourself better, become healthier, or learn how to say no? Discover what you truly want to improve that will create a better version of yourself.
2. Review why you want what you want
Once you have discovered what you want, explore why you want this? Is it truly to improve yourself, to make you happier, to live life to the fullest? Think about how your true purpose. A few ways to explore your why is not just by thinking about but consider journaling and speaking to someone who is open to receive your discovery.
3. Plan on how to attain what you want.
Once you have discovered what you want, and you have researched your why for wanting something, then design your plan. How will you achieve your desire or want? What steps will you need to take? Do you need to prepare yourself by obtaining a trainer, a coach, or therapist? Do you need to obtain a level of education? How do you see yourself once you reach your goal? Sit down and think about what you would like once you obtain your that need or desire. How will you feel? What colors do you see? What fragrances do you smell?
Your desire may be something easily obtained, or it may be a bit more challenging. Whatever you set your heart on, know that you can obtain that desire or want. You can do this. Yes, it may take some time and it may take several times to reach it, but you can do this!
