“Water is the driving force of all nature’ - Leonardo di Vinci

I always carry a huge bottle of water with me everywhere I go. I drink 4-5 bottles daily and I can when I don’t drink enough water. I feel sluggish, tired, and achy. Here are my favorite reasons why I drink water on a regular basis.

  1. Water intake helps you loose weight. Drinking water on a regular basis helps you feel full which will decreased your desire to eat (or overeat). It also aids in nutrient absorption and aids in digestion.

  2. Water helps maintain as well as increase your energy level. By drinking water, you are activating your metabolism. This boost in your metabolism can have an impact on your energy level. Not only can you maintain your energy level, drinking can also improve your mood. Adequate hydration helps stave off fatigue and anxiety.

  3. That Glow! Water intake helps your skin stay hydrated, improve collagen production, and keep those lines away. Although water intake will help your skin maintain a natural glow, don’t forget to wear your sunscreen and good wide-brimmed hat!

  4. Body function maintenance. Regular hydration aids in maintaining body temperature, urination, and defecation. It can also help prevent certain illnesses, kidney stones, infections, and high blood pressure.

  5. Keep your mind sharp. Hydrating on a regular basis will help with your alertness and focus.

So, how much should you drink?

According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, general water intake (from all beverages and foods) that meet most people’s needs are:

  • about 15.5 cups of water (125 ounces) each day for men

  • about 11.5 cups (91 ounces) daily for women
